9th Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy Jim Herdt

Biography

A member of the ‘NewDay USA 5’ Character Driven Leadership development team, Master Chief Jim Herdt served 35 years in the U.S. Navy, with the final four years of his career achieving the position as the 9th Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy. In this position, he was responsible for leading program and policy development representing an enlisted force of over 400,000 personnel and their families as the senior enlisted advisor to the Chief of Naval Operations.  He has also held high visibility command enlisted advisor assignments both afloat and ashore throughout the latter part of his military career.  After retiring in 2002, Master Chief Herdt founded Herdt Consulting, Inc., a full-service business transformation consulting company designed to help organizations become more productive and successful by leveraging enterprise resource programming, using predictive analysis, managing large data and employing robust cyber security.  He remains actively involved with the military community through board membership with the U.S. Navy Memorial and is vice chairman of the Association for the U.S. Navy.
